In a nutshell:   This article outlines a masked cross-sectional comparative study, to evaluate 3 strategies used for community based screening for sight threatening diabetic retinopathy (STDR). 216 type 1 and type 2 patients were screened and the prevalence of STDR was 14.3%. Concludes that screening for STDR with NMC can be performed with one non-stereoscopic retinal photograph per eye with mydriasis using tropicamide 0.5% and that screening without mydriasis increases the number of referrals.
