In a nutshell: This post summarises the findings of the “Better Diabetes Care Survey Report 2009”. 1,000 people in Scotland with diabetes took part in the survey and whilst praise for recent improvements in care is given, considerable concerns remain that there are significant gaps in services.

The effect of screening on the prevalence of diagnosed type 2 diabetes in primary care

In a nutshell: 10 healthcare centres with 44 GPs in the Netherlands were involved in the study. GPs were surveyed and patient electronic records were examined to identify links between screening activity and the prevalence of diabetes. This article concludes that GP screening activity has a statistically significant and relevant influence on the prevalence of diagnosed diabetes.
